Danes fear Gronkjaer may miss Euro 2004
A family illness has forced Chelsea’s Jesper Gronkjaer to miss Denmark’s flight to Portugal – and fears are growing that the 26-year-old may miss Euro 2004 completely.
Coach Morten Olsen has retained Gronkjaer in his squad and has no plans to ditch the speedy winger, effectively reducing his squad to 22 players for the time being at least.
“There’s something in life which is more important than football, and that is family,” Olsen said.
“I have talked to Jesper and I fully understand his wish to stay at home with his family, until he feels he can travel.”
