Beckham to have back cyst removed

David Beckham will play the opening 45 minutes of the final Euro 2004 warm-up international against Iceland today before having an injection at a Manchester hospital to remove a cyst from his back.

But the Real Madrid midfielder will be back in training when Sven-Goran Eriksson’s side begin their preparations in Portugal for Sunday’s opening clash with France in Lisbon.
