Celta keeper flattered by Arsenal link
Spanish goalkeeper Manuel Almunia is flabbergasted by reports that he is being hunted by Premiership champions Arsenal.
Almunia belongs to relegated Celta Vigo but has spent an excellent season on loan with Albacete.
Now it is reported that the London club are interested in luring him to Highbury.
Almunia said: “It’s a surprising piece of news but I still don’t believe it.
“I know they have been talking to Celta, according to my agent, but nothing else.”
However, Almunia could stick with Albacete.
He said: “Albacete have already talked to Celta and are interested in keeping me.
“I want to be happy and I will be very happy if I stay here. I’ve said that a lot and I’m not asking for much more.
“However, if Arsenal, Real Madrid or one of those teams come in for me which I still don’t believe then that’s something else.
“As I am I am still very happy.”
