Inverness fail in SPL bid
Inverness Caledonian Thistle today failed in their bid to join the Scottish Premier League after falling just short of the votes needed to gain promotion.
The First Division champions required eight votes from the 12 member top-flight clubs but received seven.
That meant disappointment for Thistle but joy for Partick Thistle, who clung on to their SPL status.
The Glasgow club had threatened to take the league to court if the vote went against them but a dejected Inverness chairman Kenneth Mackie left Hampden Park vowing to make an appeal.
