No goals in play-off final

There was little to separate Crystal Palace and West Ham after a deadlocked first 45 minutes of this afternoon’s Nationwide First Division play-off final at the Millennium Stadium.

Andrew Johnson missed a good early chance for Palace when the Football League’s leading scorer headed Wayne Routledge’s cross over the bar from close range.

Palace keeper Nico Vaesen produced a good stop after Bobby Zamora had been put clear by a wonderful 25-yard through ball from Michael Carrick, before Thomas Repka cleared Michael Hughes’ goal-bound effort off the West Ham line.
