New attack on Liverpool Thai deal
Liverpool’s proposed deal to sell a 30% stake to Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra ran into more controversy today when a leading group of academics called for the investment to be declared illegal.
Confusion surrounded the bid, with Liverpool refusing to comment on overnight reports from Asia that a $115m (€94.8m) deal had been reached for the Thais to take an almost 50% share and two seats on the club’s executive board.
