Brazilian nutty on Celtic

Marcio Amoroso’s advisor insists there is a real possibility he will become Henrik Larsson’s replacement at Celtic.

The Brazilian striker is to spend a few days at Parkhead and was today set to meet with manager Martin O’Neill.

The 29-year-old had his contract at Borussia Dortmund terminated earlier in the year after an number of bust-ups with the German club’s officials.

He is a free agent and has been in Britain for almost two weeks, with Portsmouth, Bolton and Middlesbrough all said to be interested.

But the player’s advisor Nivaldo Baldo, who also doubles as his physiotherapist, insisted Celtic are a club he would also consider joining.

He said: “It’s possible, very real. They treated us very well and we are impressed.

“Celtic would not have brought us here to make a deal if they could not afford him. If they want it it is possible.”

Amoroso spent yesterday afternoon wandering the streets of Glasgow – and shortbread was on his shopping list.

Baldo said: “We like Scotland because we love shortbread. Coming here is interesting to him.”
