Frank joins brother Ronald out of Ibrox
Rangers defender Frank De Boer has confirmed he will leave the club at the end of the season to finish his career in Qatar alongside twin brother Ronald.
The Holland international, who has been capped more than 100 times for his country, joined Rangers in January to end an unhappy spell at Galatasaray.
The twins celebrate their 34th birthdays on Saturday and Frank, the younger of the duo, had said he was willing to discuss a contract extension but will now join Ronald in the millionaires’ playground in the desert.
He told www.uefa.com: “I had promised my brother Ronald I would go with him to Qatar.
“That’s more the issue than anything else. Maybe in my heart I wanted to stay but we made a pact to go at the same time and that’s it.
“This was always going to be a big year for me as captain of Holland and I’m grateful to Rangers for giving me the opportunity to restore my fitness and confidence before Euro 2004.”
The brothers will say farewell to the Ibrox fans in Rangers’ last home game of the season against Hearts tomorrow night.
