Ranieri makes two changes

Claudio Ranieri has made two changes from the side defeated by Monaco in midweek as big-spending Chelsea look to grab the consolation prize of runners-up spot in the Premiership at the expense of Manchester United.

Robert Huth and Claude Makelele replaced injured duo William Gallas and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink as the Blues looked to put their midweek Champions League heartbreak to one side and maintain an impressive Old Trafford record.

Chelsea have only been beaten four times in their last 28 visits to the ground and only a draw was required today against a United side that has lost three of their last four games, all 1-0.

With Chelsea having the safety net of a final day encounter with Leeds, Alex Ferguson has already given up on second spot, so – with the notable exception of Roy Keane – he opted to give what is likely to be his FA Cup final side a run.

It meant the return of Paul Scholes from a three-match ban but no place for Louis Saha, who is ineligible for the Millennium Stadium showdown with Millwall on May 22.
