Poll in the clear with FA

Referee Graham Poll will not face any disciplinary sanctions for accusing Manchester United's Gary Neville of diving.

The Old Trafford club were annoyed when Poll's comments, made during an after-dinner speech, came to light.

Neville complained he was now a marked man among the refereeing fraternity.

There was speculation that the Tring official may be charged with bringing the game into disrepute by the Football Association.

However, the FA have moved quickly to assure Poll this will not happen.

"Contrary to today's reports, the FA would like to confirm that the referee Graham Poll will not face any disciplinary action," an FA spokesman said.

Ironically, Poll was supposed to be taking charge of today's clash between United and Liverpool at Old Trafford but was forced to pull out earlier in the week after picking up a hamstring problem.

Instead, Mike Riley will step in for a game that will be watched by Sven-Goran Eriksson.
