Beckham leaves family for team training
David Beckham was setting off for the high profile Spanish resort of La Manga today for a training break with his Real Madrid team-mates as he hoped to concentrate on football matters.
The England captain rejoined his team in Spain yesterday after another turbulent weekend, with more allegations of infidelities.
La Manga recently hit the headlines after three Leicester City players were accused of committing serious sexual assault at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, where the club was on a training break.
Beckham’s spokeswoman Caroline McAteer said the decision to go to the resort was made by Real Madrid.
The footballer, who has spent the last few days in Britain with Victoria in a show of public unity, will leave his wife and two sons for the four-day training session.
Victoria is expected to return to the UK with Brooklyn and Romeo today, after her husband leaves for La Manga.
Despite announcing they would be instructing lawyers over various allegations that Beckham, 28, has had affairs, no further developments were announced yesterday.
David Beckham’s sister has spoken of the family’s “nightmare” over the string of allegations facing her brother, reported the Daily Mirror.
Hairdresser Joanne, 21, was heard telling a customer at a north London salon that the publicity had been “impossible to avoid”.
Talking of the Beckhams’ sons, she said: “The boys are only small but they are old enough to know that something is going on.”
Meanwhile, the couple’s representatives denied claims sweeping Internet gossip websites that Victoria was expecting her third child.
Rebecca Loos, the footballer’s former PA who claims she had an affair with him, is to give a TV interview with Sky One tomorrow. She says she slept with him in the same hotel bed that he shared with Victoria, 29, following his move to Madrid.
Sky news anchor Kay Burley will question Loos about the alleged affair.
An exclusive TV interview with Loos was thought to be worth up to £500,000 (€750,000) with a host of broadcasters chasing the rights.
Ms Loos has reportedly already been paid £300,000 (€450,000) for her kiss-and-tell newspaper revelations.
The hour-long special programme, Rebecca Loos: My Story, will be broadcast at 10pm.
The second woman who claims she had an affair with Beckham, Sarah Marbeck, said she decided to reveal the alleged relationship because she spent two years waiting for the England captain.
In a statement released yesterday, she said: “In response to many questions about my motives, the reason I decided to go public with details of my relationship with David Beckham is because for two years my life was on hold while I waited for him,” she said. “He said he loved me and I slept with the phone by my bed waiting for it to ring.
“Finally, I accepted that my relationship with Beckham was over and I decided to move forward with my life. But in that time my life changed forever, and there is no way back for me.”
She claimed not to be a “celebrity seeker” and described herself as being “shocked by the intense level of public interest in my life”.
She added: “I am not proud of everything I have done, but there is more of my personal story to come.”
