Leicester manager Micky Adams is sweating on the fitness of striker Les Ferdinand ahead of the relegation-threatened Foxes’ daunting trip to meet Manchester United on Tuesday evening.

Adams has rated the 37-year-old veteran frontman as “doubtful” after Ferdinand succumbed to a knee injury which accounted for his absence from Saturday’s 2-0 home defeat to Fulham.

And although wideman Lee Morris is close to full recovery from a thigh problem, the Old Trafford fixture is expected to come too soon while defender Callum Davidson is sidelined by long-term groin and pelvic problems.

Provisional squad: Walker, Scimeca, Heath, Dabizas, Thatcher, Scowcroft, Freund, Izzet, Guppy, Dickov, Bent, Coyne, Canero, Nalis, McKinlay, Benjamin.
