Gareth Southgate is back in training after suffering a jaw injury playing for England which left him unable to eat solid food for several days.

The Middlesbrough skipper had x-rays after taking a volley full in the face against Sweden and, although he suffered no broken bones, his diet means he has lost weight and manager Steve McClaren believes he will only be able to play in one of the Easter weekend matches against Chelsea and Southampton.

Meanwhile Stuart Parnaby (back) and Franck Queudrue (ankle) are also back in training after missing Saturday’s win over Bolton.

There has been a setback for Boro, however, after tests revealed that striker Joseph-Desire Job will be out for two weeks with a hamstring injury which forced him out of the game at Bolton.
