Murphy's first gives Derry win

Alan Murphy scored a debut goal to give Derry their first win of the season.

The ex-Galway striker caught Steven Gough in possession to race around keeper Noel Mooney and slide the ball home for the game’s only goal on 34 minutes.

Jason McGuinness headed off the bar from a Shane Robinson corner early on while Ciaran Kelly saved Trevor Molloy’s attempted chip as Rovers started well.

Damien Brennan then prevented an equaliser when clearing off the line from Liam Kelly in the second half.
