Celtic have lost their appeal to UEFA over the dismissal of goalkeeper Rob Douglas following the UEFA Cup fourth-round first-leg 11 days ago.

The Parkhead number one was dismissed after an incident in the players’ tunnel as the teams left the pitch at half-time.

Douglas and Barcelona midfielder Thiago Motta were sent off by referee Wolfgang Stark ahead of the second period of the game which the Hoops won 1-0.

However, UEFA have announced they will not be continuing their investigation into Celtic defender Bobo Balde’s part in the fracas.
