A leading sports lawyer has warned Rio Ferdinand could run the risk of having his suspension for missing a drugs test extended should he take his case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Ferdinand will wait for the detailed judgement into the failed appeal against his eight-month ban handed out by The Football Association before deciding whether to take the matter even further.
