Aston Villa striker Darius Vassell was sent home from England’s training camp today after being ill during the night at the team hotel.

His departure reduced Sven-Goran Eriksson’s party for the friendly against Portugal in Faro tomorrow to 23 following Sol Campbell’s withdrawal with a groin problem.
