Portsmouth today pulled off a double transfer deadline day swoop for Newcastle’s Lomano LuaLua and Leicester’s John Curtis.

Relegation-battling Pompey have clinched a three-month loan deal for striker LuaLua and will discuss a permanent transfer with United towards the end of the season.

The Congo striker, 23, has moved to Fratton Park for a loan fee of £100,000 (€146,000) after rejecting a move to Leeds.

The south-coast club have also landed Leicester defender Curtis in a transfer which did not involve a fee being paid by Pompey but did incur ‘agency fees’.

The 25-year-old has signed a one-and-a-half year contract for Harry Redknapp’s team.
