N. Ireland up bid for Jimmy Nicholl
Dunfermline chairman John Yorkston has revealed that the Irish Football Association have begun negotiations with his club and assistant manager Jimmy Nicholl over his possible succession to Sammy McIlroy.
The former Manchester United defender attended an interview along with ex-Wycombe boss Lawrie Sanchez.
But the IFA have reportedly already contacted Pars’ chief Yorkston over compensation required to take Nicholl as the new Northern Ireland boss.
Yorkston told Scotland Today: “We have spoken to the Irish Football Association this morning.
“They have asked what package we want for severing Jimmy’s contract.
“I told them what we were looking for, and they have then spoken to Jimmy regarding his salary.
“Those negotiations between the IFA and Jimmy are on-going, as they are with Dunfermline Athletic Football Club.”
