West Ham have parted company with first-team coach Paul Goddard as manager Alan Pardew continues his rebuilding work at Upton Park.

The former Hammers striker was brought in by previous boss Glenn Roeder in June 2000, but Pardew wants to build his own management team as well as a side capable of returning to the Premier League.

Pardew told the club’s official website, www.whufc.com: “Paul is a real gentleman and he has helped me settle in here.

“He has been totally professional but I just felt the chemistry needed to change.”

The club will appoint a new coach next week.
