Phillips plans to fight FA charge

Southampton striker Kevin Phillips is set to continue his spat with Arsenal goalkeeper Jens Lehmann by sending the FA more film of their clash - along with his appeal for a personal hearing.

The pair have been charged with misconduct after the German threw the ball at the back of Phillips' head as the teams left the pitch following Arsenal's 1-0 win at St Mary's on December 29.

Phillips was charged after appearing to stand on the goalkeeper's foot and he was accused afterwards of trying to provoke Lehmann.

But the striker said: "Footage shows Lehmann lifted his feet up. I went down on his foot but it doesn't show what he did to me before and that is what I am going to send in now. I want to appeal."

Both players could be banned for two matches if found guilty.
