Davies set for Spurs comeback

Simon Davies, the Welsh midfielder who has not played for Tottenham since August, is back in the squad for their crunch FA Cup third round tie against London neighbours Crystal Palace at White Hart Lane tomorrow.

Davies sustained a hip injury playing for his country against Finland in September but he trained with the team this morning and though he may start the game as a substitute he is likely to play a part.

But Tottenham, who have slipped into the bottom three in the Premiership, are without defender Dean Richards who has a calf strain while Christian Ziege has been ill for four days this week and though he is back training, he has not recovered fully enough to be in the squad.

Spurs also are without Darren Anderton and Jamie Redknapp while Freddie Kanoute also trained today and caretaker manager David Pleat will make a decision in the morning.

Provisional squad: Keller, Kelly, Carr, Gardner, Taricco, Poyet, Postiga, King, Jackson, Ricketts, Zamora, Kanoute, Keane, Burch, Doherty, Dalmat.
