Robson aims to silence critics

Bobby Robson is planning to use this weekend’s FA Cup tie at Southampton to silence his critics and put Newcastle’s stop-start season on the right track.

The manager and his players came under fire from chairman Freddy Shepherd earlier this week for under-performing but Robson is determined the furore created in the wake of that outburst will not undermine his plans for the Saints.
