Ganea to join Wolves
Wolves have signed striker Ioan Viorel Ganea until the end of the season - subject to the player receiving a work permit and international clearance.
The 30-year-old Romania international passed a medical yesterday, and the Barclaycard Premiership’s bottom club have until noon on Friday to complete his registration and make him eligible for the following day’s FA Cup third-round tie at Kidderminster.
Ganea made a name for himself with VfB Stuttgart in the Bundesliga, where he scored 34 goals in 106 appearances over four seasons before moving to Turkish League Bursaspor last summer.
Ganea has won 40 caps and scored 19 goals for Romania and played alongside Chelsea striker Adrian Mutu in all eight of his country’s unsuccessful group two qualifying games for Euro 2004 – scoring four goals.
Although Ganea’s move to Molineux is initially until the end of the current campaign, according to the club’s official website – www.wolvesfc.co.uk – the player will earn a 12-month extension to his contract, providing Wolves stay up and he makes a set number of appearances.
