Players’ union deputy chief executive Mick McGuire believes Rio Ferdinand was robbed of a fair hearing the moment his missed test became public knowledge.

The Manchester United defender was banned for eight months and fined £50,000 (€71,000) by an independent disciplinary commission yesterday after failing to take a drugs test on September 23.
