Man Utd stakebuilding just an 'investment'

American tycoon Malcolm Glazer views his 14.31% stake in Manchester United just as an investment, according to United's CEO David Gill.

Gill confirmed he travelled to the US last week to meet with Mr Glaxer,the owner of Tampa Bay Buccaneers American football team. Mr Gill said it was indicated to him that the stakebuilding was viewed primarily as an investment.

Mr Glaxer's recent stake-building in the Premiership Champions club has fueled speculation he is set to launch a bid for the club.

Gill was speaking at the press conference today announcing a new four year sponsorship deal with Vodafone worth £36m(€51.69m) for the club.
