Schurrer volley keeps Sociedad hopes alive

Olympiakos bowed out of the Champions League as a brilliant Gabriel Schurrer volley broke Greek hearts and ensure Real Sociedad stayed in contention.

The Spanish side led 1-0 at the break after Igor Gabilondo collided with the goalkeeper but managed to tuck the ball in from an acute angle to open the scoring in the 31st minute.

The home side rallied and two goals in 12 minutes from Ieroklis Stoltidis and Neri Alberto Castillo saw the Greeks take the lead in the 71st minute.

However, Gabriel Schurrer stunned the home crowd with his brilliant volley three minutes later.
