UEFA charge Giggs, but clear him to play

Ryan Giggs takes his place for Wales in their Euro 2004 play-off second-leg against Russia in Cardiff tomorrow, despite being charged with improper conduct by UEFA.

The European footballing body confirmed today that it had cleared the Manchester United winger to play.

Giggs’ allegedly elbowed defender Vadim Evseev in Saturday’s first-leg goalless draw in Moscow and was complained to UEFA by the Russian Football Union.
