Premiership - half-time scores

Spurs lead Arsenal at half-time in the north London derby while Middlesbrough and Charlton also enjoy half-time leads.

Tottenham got off to a flying start in today’s north London derby with Arsenal at Highbury.

Few gave Spurs much chance of getting anything out of their match against the Barclaycard Premiership leaders but Darren Anderton handed them the perfect platform with a goal inside five minutes.

The former England international stabbed the ball home from close range after good build-up work from Helder Postiga and Robbie Keane.

The game at Fratton Park between Portsmouth and Leeds was first delayed by traffic congestion around the ground and then a power failure which held up kick-off until 3.30pm.

Dejan Stefanovic put the home side ahead after 17 minutes, but Leeds – without axed striker Mark Viduka – hit back through Alan Smith in the 19th minute.

Charlton took an early lead against Fulham in the day’s other London derby at The Valley.

Graham Stuart swept the ball home on 10 minutes for his first goal in two seasons after Edwin van der Sar had parried Jonatan Johansson’s shot straight into his path.

Bolo Zenden put Middlesborough ahead after half an hour at Aston Villa, the flying Dutchman producing a diving header to meet Franck Queudrue’s left-wing cross and steer the ball past Thomas Sorensen.

The encounter between Bolton and Southampton at the Reebok Stadium was goalless at half-time.

Earlier, Wolves and Birmingham had drawn 1-1 at Molineux.

Mikael Forssell had put the visitors in front at the start of the second half with a neat run and finish, his fifth goal in eight games since joining on loan from Chelsea.

However, Dave Jones’ men – who battled back from 3-0 down to beat Leicester in their last home Premiership match – raised the tempo and got themselves level on 66 minutes when Steffen Iversen bundled the ball in following a goalmouth scramble.

Neither side could find a winner – although Iversen sent a gilt-edged opportunity wide from six yards with only seconds remaining.
