Manchester United took an iron grip on the game thanks to an early goal from Diego Forlan and a fortuitous second from Ruud van Nistelrooy just before the break.

Van Nistelrooy doubled Manchester United's advantage just before the break in their Champions League Group E clash against Rangers at Old Trafford.

The Dutchman didn't know much about the goal as Diego Forlan's volley struck the bar, rebounded and went in off van Nistelrooy's knee.

Forlan put Manchester United into an early lead as he volleyed the ball past goalkeeper Klos in the sixth minute.
