McFadden to start for Everton

James McFadden will make his first start for Everton against Stockport tomorrow in place of the cup-tied Kevin Kilbane.

Duncan Ferguson is also likely to start after substitute performances against Newcastle and Middlesbrough but Francis Jeffers’ back injury will keep him out of the Carling Cup second round tie and Steve Watson is doubtful due to illness.

Everton boss David Moyes may also decide to rest Wayne Rooney for the match at Goodison Park.

Goalkeepers Richard Wright and Steve Simonsen are both still injured as is Li Tie. Scot Gemmill and Kevin Campbell will not be risked despite being back in training.

Provisional squad: Martyn, Hibbert, Yobo, Stubbs, Naysmith, Watson, Linderoth, Gravesen, Rooney, Radzinski, Weir, Unsworth, Turner, McFadden, Ferguson, Pistone, Carsley.
