Antic admits interest in Tottenham job

Raddy Antic admits he's interest in taking up a managerial job in the Premiership as he emerged as an early contender to replace Glenn Hoddle at Tottenham.

The former Real Madrid and Barcelona coach was linked to the White Hart Lane club almost as soon as Hoddle was axed last night.

And several leading British bookmakers are taking no bets on who will be the new man in charge, believing Antic is a red-hot favourite.

Antic, 53, knows Tottenham director of football David Pleat well, having played under him at Luton.

Antic said: "I am interested in coaching in the Premiership."

He is currently out of a job, having been relieved of his caretaker manager's role at Barcelona.

His credentials are impressive, even though he lacks Premiership experience as a coach, and last season Antic took plenty of credit for steering Barca clear of the relegation zone and to a sixth-placed finish to qualify for the Uefa Cup.

Antic is currently working on Spanish radio as an expert summariser, but he wants to get back on the training pitch.

"There are rumours linking me to Tottenham, but there is nothing concrete and I really cannot talk about it," he added.
