Manchester United begin their latest Champions League campaign at Old Trafford tonight without Cristiano Ronaldo.

After his outstanding performance against Charlton last Saturday, the Portugal international was a surprise omission from Sir Alex Ferguson’s side to face Greek league leaders Panathinaikos.
