Detectives investigating threats against the agent of football wonderkid Wayne Rooney tonight charged a man with blackmail.

Detectives investigating threats against the agent of football wonderkid Wayne Rooney tonight charged a man with blackmail.

The move followed newspaper allegations that millionaire agent Paul Stretford had threats made against him.

In a statement, a spokesman for Cheshire police said a 41-year-old man from the Woolton area of Liverpool had been charged with blackmail against a Cheshire businessman and had been bailed to appear before magistrates in Runcorn on Tuesday September 9.
