Blackburn confirm signing of Dino Baggio
Blackburn have confirmed the signing of Dino Baggio on a season-long loan from Lazio.
The former Italy international, who had also been linked with Wolves and Celtic, agreed personal terms at Ewood Park this afternoon.
Blackburn chief executive John Williams told the official club website, www.rovers.co.uk: “We have agreed a deal with Lazio for a season’s loan. He has impressed in training, had a medical and today we sorted out personal and contractual terms.”
The arrival of Baggio completes a busy week for Blackburn, who also tied up a loan deal for Markus Babbel and signed Rangers duo Barry Ferguson, as Graeme Souness continues to make the money from the sales of Damien Duff and David Dunn go a long way.
Williams also confirmed the details of the deal which brought Ferguson, described by Souness as an “outstanding” player, from Ibrox.
Baggio, Ferguson and Babbel are all expected to play some part in Blackburn’s next league match, the visit from Liverpool on September 13.
