Manchester United want to sign 14-year-old American Freddy Adu, described by the News of the World as "the world's hottest teenager".

The paper claims United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has already spoken to Adu's mother and family adviser, saying: "I'm very serious about this boy."

The Ghanaian-born starlet has already signed a £650,000 (€921,000) sponsorship deal with Nike.
