Bird swoops to grab Pat's point at Longford

Tony Bird hit his 10th goal of the season to earn Pat's a point in this 'game of two halves'.

In a move straight off the training pitch, Bird got on the end of a Keith Fahy free-kick to flick a header past Stephen O'Brien to level on 70 minutes.

Earlier Town began well but were rattled on 16 minutes when Bird smacked a stunning right foot shot off their crossbar after good work by Fahy and Mbabazi.

Longford skipper Barry Ferguson began and finished the move for Town's lead on 27 minutes.

The ball was eventually put into the box where Davy Byrne tripped Darragh Sheridan and Ferguson sent keeper Chris Adamson the wrong way from the penalty.

Town also hit the same bar three minutes before St. Pat's equalised when Adamson tipped Sean Prunty's drive onto the woodwork.
