Celtic back home after scare

Celtic’s weary stars finally arrived back in Glasgow late this afternoon after a terrifying experience as they attempted to return last night.

After thrashing FBK Kaunas 4-0 in the Champions League second qualifying round last night they set off to Scotland in high spirits.

But just seconds before their Britannia Boeing 757 was due to take off the pilot dramatically aborted his plans and slammed on the brakes.

As a result the Celtic staff, fans and journalists on the aircraft were forced to spend an extra night in Lithuania’s second biggest city.

But the visibly-shaken passengers were eventually airbound in a replacement jet and touched down at Glasgow International Airport at 5.30pm this evening.

Fortunately their passage into the final qualifying round before the money-spinning group stages was virtually guaranteed and the start of the Bank of Scotland Premier League campaign was not until a week on Saturday.

After hitting turbulence before landing relieved passengers had never been so glad to see the rain of Glasgow.
