Flight delay for Celtic
Celtic were left stranded in Lithuania last night after their aircraft came to a frightening and sudden halt just seconds from takeoff.
The incident happened just after 11pm as they attempted to return to Glasgow after their comfortable 4-0 victory over Kaunas in the Champions League second qualifying round.
But their plans were shelved as the pilot of the Britannia Boeing 757 dramatically aborted takeoff because the air speed indicator had broken down.
An insect in the system was blamed and the decision was made to stay an extra night in the town centre.
Flight Captain Tim O’Dell said: “We have made a decision to stay here tonight. The engineer has seen the problem, but it’s the testing that’s the problem. We will have to fly the system to Lithuania from the UK.”
