Blackburn have been linked with a move for Slovakian international striker Robert Vittek.

Representatives of Vittek’s club Slovan Bratislava and Rovers are reported to have met in Vienna yesterday to thrash out a deal for the highly-rated 21-year-old.

“Blackburn coach Graeme Souness knows everything about Vittek and he wants to add him to his team,” said Slovan director Roman Duben.

Vittek was the Slovakian league’s top scorer with 19 goals last season as his side led the championship race for the majority of the campaign before letting the title slip in the final weeks.

Birmingham, Borussia Monchengladbach, Fenerbahce and Genk have all been linked with the front man, who has won 17 caps for his country.
