Reid - Morris can be Leeds 'whipping boy'
Leeds boss Peter Reid believes Jody Morris is the man to “whip it up” for Leeds this season after moving to Elland Road on a free transfer.
Reid began his rebuilding of cash-strapped Leeds by agreeing terms with Morris, who was released by Chelsea at the end of last season.
Morris, who has signed a two-year contract, is Reid’s first signing of the summer but he is expected to be quickly followed by Lens defender Zoumana Camara on a year-long loan deal.
Reid believes Morris is the ideal player to give Leeds some steel in midfield.
He said: “Jody is a good footballer and you can’t have enough of them. For a little lad in stature, he’s very feisty when the ball’s around. I think he can create, handle a ball well and whip things up.
“Away from home we’ve looked solid and good on the break, but at Elland Road we’ve been anxious because the pressure is on you to force the game, so we need him to get on the ball and control games for us.”
