Seaman: I may stay on at City
England goalkeeper David Seaman has indicated he could stay at Manchester City beyond next season.
The 39-year-old has signed a one-year deal after 13 years with Arsenal.
âThe move has not been difficult as it is my job,â he said. âAs a player if you are not wanted at a club then you move on.
âI felt that I still have at least one year left in my playing career at a high standard.
âArsene Wenger (Arsenal manager) didnât agree with that and so it was an easy choice for me.
âI have been on year-long contracts for the last three years and then decided at the end of each season whether I wanted to carry on or not.
âI didnât want to sign a three-year deal knowing that I couldnât fulfil that deal. I want to take it a year at a time and see how I feel at the end of the season.â
âBut you shouldnât rule out another year (at Manchester City).
âI shall see how I feel. If my game is still good, I am playing well and Manchester City are doing well, then who knows?â.
Seaman made his first appearance for City when he played 45 minutes in the 2-1 defeat by Mansfield.
Manager Kevin Keegan told www.mcfc.co.uk: âI was really happy with David and he showed all the authority behind the defence that Peter Schmeichel did.
"Mind you, we will have to learn to cope with him playing as sweeper.â
