English clubs continue friendly tours

First Division Millwall opened their pre-season programme with a 3-1 win at Gravesend & Northfleet tonight.

Mark Phillips, Barry Cogan and Marvin Elliott were on target for the Lions whilst Premiership Manchester City, fielding a reserve side, beat Hyde United 2-0.

Another Division One side, Derby, were also in action, playing out a 1-1 draw at Frickley.

Plymouth beat west country neighbours Tiverton 3-1 whilst Leyton Orient won 4-0 at non-League Welling United.

Bristol City won by the same 4-0 scoreline against a West Wiltshire XI but Swindon had to settle for goalless draw against Witney.

Peterborough won 2-1 at Histon and Mansfield ran out 4-1 winners over Sheffield FC.

In Scotland, Hamilton beat a Hearts XI 4-2.
