Calderwood to go easy on Crawford
Dunfermline manager Jimmy Calderwood has vowed to go easy on Scotland striker Stevie Crawford.
The Pars have been one of the busiest Scottish Premier League sides so far this pre-season, having played two friendlies on the Isle of Lewis before last night’s 1-0 win at Highland League side Inverurie Locos.
But Crawford took no part in the game, which was settled by a late header from substitute Scott Walker.
Calderwood told the club’s official website, www.dafc.co.uk: “He has not had that much of a break considering how fit he was last season.
“We need to be very careful with him or we could burn him out before Christmas.”
Crawford scored 25 times last season, including goals for his country, and developed a dangerous partnership with veteran striker Craig Brewster.
