Longford leap out of the danger zone
Longford Town 4 Derry City 0
Town recorded their biggest win of the season as they jumped two places out of the relegation zone.
Dominating from the start, Town ran up a 2-0 lead by half-time.
The first arrived on 23 minutes when Alan Kirby squared a free kick to Philip Keogh who drilled his shot past David Forde.
The influential Kirby was again involved when his corner was headed home by defender Brian McGovern to make it 2-0 on 38 minutes.
Captain Barry Ferguson added the third goal four minutes into the second half when shooting home a penalty after Darragh Sheridan had been bundled over by Sean Hargan.
Man-of-the-match Shane Barrett then hit a deserved fourth goal on 65 minutes when skipping past Hargan to drill home from a tight angle.
