Djemba-Djemba seals United switch
Manchester United have made their second signing of the summer by securing midfielder Eric Djemba-Djemba on a five-year contract.
The club today agreed a fee of approximately £3.5m (€5.1m) for the Cameroon international’s transfer from French club Nantes. An additional £700,000 (€1m) will be paid depending on appearances.
Old Trafford boss Sir Alex Ferguson said: “Eric is a young player we’ve watched throughout the season, and he’s impressed us each time with his understanding of the game.
“He’s quick, aggressive and a good passer of the ball, and is the kind of athletic footballer we are looking for.
“In the last few months he has shown his development playing in a very good Cameroon team, and he looks like a Manchester United player in every sense.
Djemba-Djemba added: “This is a very proud moment for me. Ever since I was a teenager it has been my dream to play for Manchester United.
“If the club is signing me it is because they really believe in me. I am here to learn and to work hard, and I cannot wait for the new season to start.”
