Manchester United can be optimistic of landing Ronaldinho later this week but their hopes of keeping assistant-boss Carlos Queiroz appear doomed if Real Madrid confirm him as their leading managerial target.

Following Brazil’s early elimination from the Confederations Cup, Ronaldinho will embark on talks with officials from Paris St Germain tomorrow which should end with confirmation that the brilliant 23-year-old will leave the French capital this summer.
