Beckham's Real deal could boost England: Grip
Sven-Goran Eriksson’s number two Tord Grip believes David Beckham’s move to Real Madrid could benefit England.
Grip reckons the 28-year-old midfielder will have to spend more time on the bench at the Bernabeu as the Spanish giants rotate their star-studded squad, leaving Beckham fresher for his international duties.
“Real play so many matches I’m sure there will be enough for both Beckham and Luis Figo,” Grip told The Sun.
“But Beckham will be on the bench once in a while which is better for the national team because he gets a rest.
“It has all happened quite quickly but I think he also thought it was best for him.”
Eriksson himself has also given his seal of approval to Beckham’s switch from Manchester United.
He added in the same newspaper: “I send my congratulations to David. I will be getting in touch with him as soon as possible.”
