Paul Konchesky today rocked Charlton by slapping in a transfer request – and the club have agreed to let him leave.

The 22-year-old is frustrated at being shunted out of his preferred position at left-back, so demanded a move to further his international ambitions.

After showdown talks between Konchesky’s agent Andrew Mills and the Addicks over the weekend, the player today asked to leave.

A statement on the club’s official website, www.cafc.co.uk read: “Charlton have received a written transfer request from Paul Konchesky.

“With considerable reluctance, the club have granted the request.”
