Sean Friars scored twice as Derry cruised past First Division Sligo and into a League Cup semi-final meeting away to Longford Town.

Ex-Sligo striker Padraig Moran sent Derry on their way with the lead goal in the 17th minutes when drilling home after Friars sent over a short corner.

Friars then hit his first ten minutes later when slotting home Gary Beckett' s right wing cross.

The game was over as a contest on 72 minutes when Friars netted his second of the night from substitute Kevin Deery's cross.
